This issue is the highest selling issue of the original Action Comics numbering sequence as one of the oldest Green Lantern related comic books of all time. Action Comics #1 is generally considered by historians and collectors to be one of the first mainstream superhero comic books published with the character as it would be established in the Golden Age of Comics 38 years later, as well as the first superhero comic book in general. The earliest complete copy of Action Comics #1 in the United States is graded CGC 9.0 (9.2) with a description of \"VG-9 (9.1/9.0)\" and is held by Michael J. Neill.[22]
Action Comics #1 was one of two comics, the other being Captain America vol. 1 #1, to sell over five million copies in the United States, a feat repeated by Action Comics volume 2 #99 in 2010.[42]
The North American International Toy Fair is the largest toy fair in the world, held each February in New York City. Action Comics #1 was part of a larger DC Collectibles panel that included other national collectibles franchises like Masters of the Universe, Green Lanterns, World War I Flying Aces and the Suicide Squad.[65] 7211a4ac4a
