I would love to make a comparison with the iRig Pads editor app and the u-he software, as it's a different system, but the iRig Pads editor is very powerful, if somewhat limited. It's a great app for a beginner, and one that I found myself reaching for throughout my sessions.
If you're looking to get started with iRig Pads, the editor app is a great place to start. It's also quite well done, and perfect for someone who wants to get started with the iRig Pads without having to deal with downloading and setting up the software. The simple UI makes it very easy to add and remove controls and assign them to scenes. The app allows you to save and load config files, with the ability to export them to MIDI for further editing.
I prefer the u-he editor, as it gives you more insight into the audio being played and allows you to make changes to the audio and alter the settings as needed. The editor also does not have the limitation of being standalone, as you can use it to edit the audio being played through an iRig HD. You can also change presets, and save them as a user file that you can then load on a different iRig Pads system.
To me, the iRig Pads editor is a great tool for someone who is completely new to them. As it is a standalone app, it is easy to use, and makes it extremely easy to create control assignments from a laptop. As you can see, it's also limited - you are stuck with what you create. You can't really make any adjustments to the audio or any settings that are not on the display.
One of the reasons the iRig Pads Editor is so limited is the fact that it does not give you any insight into what's actually going on. You have the option to load and save a settings file, but this is limited to only the control assignments and system assignments you want to change, not the actual audio being played through the pads. You can also export the settings to a MIDI file, but this also only includes the control assignments and system assignments. I am personally not a MIDI person, so there is no easy way to back up my settings.
The iRig Pads editor is also accessible from the iRig Pads hardware. It’s a simple, easy to navigate UI that allows you to adjust all 16 scenes and save your current configuration. It’s a very good software editor, but the hardware’s UI is much more intuitive.
The editor features a number of controls for sound customization:
Volume
Pan
Balance
Dynamics
Delay
Filter
Sub
Gain
Compressor
Limiters
Envelope
Overdrive
De-esser
Stereo
Gain
Wet
Filter
Once that is done, you can enter the assignments in your DAW. The main limitation of the software editor is that it only allows one iRig Pads to be edited at a time. So, if you want to edit one from your iRig Pads and one from your iRig HD, you can't use the software editor on both at once. 827ec27edc
